Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Hours after US President Donald Trump announced a “complete and total” ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Tehran launched a fresh round of missile strikes targeting southern Israel. According to Israeli military reports, at least three people were killed and a residential building sustained significant damage in Tuesday morning’s attacks. The strikes came despite Trump’s claim that both countries had agreed to end hostilities within a 24-hour phased process.
Late Monday night, Iran targeted the US-operated Al Udeid air base in Qatar. Nineteen missiles were fired, according to Qatari authorities, who confirmed that 18 were intercepted by the country’s air defence systems. Only one missile hit the base, and no casualties were reported. Explosions were heard across several parts of Doha, but Iranian officials said the missiles were not aimed at residential zones and posed no threat to the Qatari population.
Trump announced the ceasefire on social media, stating that Israel and Iran had reached a mutual agreement to end the conflict. “It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE... for 12 hours,” Trump wrote. He stated that Iran would begin the ceasefire first, followed by Israel after 12 hours, marking a formal end to what he called the “12 Day War.”
Shortly after the announcement, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi rejected the claim. He stated on social media, “As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around. As of now, there is NO ‘agreement’ on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations.” Araghchi added that Iran would reconsider its military operations if Israel stopped its aggression by 4 am Tehran time.
The current conflict began on June 13 when Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion,” targeting multiple Iranian nuclear and military facilities. Iran responded with missile attacks on Tel Aviv, resulting in several casualties. The United States later launched “Operation Midnight Hammer,” targeting three Iranian nuclear bases. Iran claimed that the strikes caused no major damage. As of now, no formal ceasefire has been confirmed by both sides.
